Windows update, broken dishwashers and early mornings….

Don’t you find that whatever you are doing, wherever you are going and whomever you are seeing, there is always a reason not to get up early. For work maybe, but everyday… and at the weekend? Who knows eh? At the weekend, people want to relax and get some sleep or more than they get on a weekday morning, although the last thing you want to do is waste your precious weekend? So, how do you compensate for having enough sleep, but not sleeping too much and ending up with a muffled head - without even drinking any alcohol the night before?

A sink, a pile of washing up and mounting dishes - what more could you want? Well, nothing more and nothing less - that is, if your dishwasher is broken. Dishwasher engineers work in the week, I work in the week. I’m around at the weekend, but the dishwasher engineers need to relax at some point and it just happens that this is when they do it. So, what am I supposed to do I hear you ask? You tell me… There’s only so many paper plates that you can eat from and only so many times you want to see the washing up. There’s always the thought of doing the washing up, but …. you are out early, in late and the last thing you want to do is face is a pile of plates! I’m not even sure that the plates don’t multiply whilst I am out … can that really happen?

How long does it take to update via Windows Update? It seems to take forever, but yes of course it depends on how much has been “ticked”, although maybe it like watching paint dry … it always takes longer. Maybe I should do the washing up?

Asides

  • I have one, lots of other people have them. It does make you jump to look at it when it beeps / vibrates - even though you pretend not to grab it from your very friendly, but unfashionable belt holster. Have they become a part of our lives now? Why have a desktop or laptop for email when you can get it anywhere you want . . . to a point. In day to day life these days, having one isn't really frowned upon - they look like phones and gone are the days where it looked like a overrated plastic calculator. You can sync your calendar and contacts and all of this in your pocket [or unfashionable holster]. Are you thinking about getting one? Well, if you need email and need to be mobile and want to fit in with everyone else - why not? Not long after using it you will find that you are text-emailing with the odd looking keyboard and 'Suretype' predictive text software. I love it and I think you will to. Just try one . . . . . #
